Decorated Earthenware Pottery from Hadley, MA
Donna McGee’s ceramics are a functional and decorative representation of the Pioneer Valley in pottery. Donna’s signature style includes the combination of clay, sgraffito, drawing and painting. The scenes on her pieces include farmland, porches, flowerpots, and are generally reminiscent of country life in rural Massachusetts. With red earthenware, she uses a slab roller to create tiles and platters and the potter’s wheel for pots and bowls.

According to Donna, “My interest lies in the pursuit of creativity through drawing on wet clay, and in the integration of form with this decoration. Through the extemporaneous execution of line drawings and watercolor-like painting, I concentrate on keeping my work fresh and through that concentration, creative ideas flowing.” Each of Donna McGee’s pieces is handmade, one-of-a-kind, food safe, dishwasher & microwave safe.
