Enameled Jewelry from Florence, MA
donnabelle designs is an exploration of color, form and line by artist Donnabelle Casis. As a professional artist with an MFA in painting, Donnabelle is inspired by her love of color and fascination with organic forms to create jewelry that is vibrant, creative and contemporary. Each piece is handcrafted in Donnabelle's studio. She works with vitreous enamel on copper, kiln-firing each piece at 1500ºF multiple times. The reverse of all forms are counter-enameled with a solid contrasting color, creating jewelry that can be worn two ways.
Donnabelle began working with glass enamel in 2004, a year after the birth of her twin boys. She sought a creative outlet that was immediate and rewarding while balancing her family and art career. After taking a few enameling classes during a family summer vacation in the Adirondacks, Donnabelle was immediately drawn to the alchemic process of transforming powder into glass and working in layers, something she found similar to her painting practice.
Donnabelle creates several new collections a year, each with limited production. Once a collection sells out, its designs are retired, making donnabelle designs jewelry imminently collectible.
