A new artist to Pinch, Rob Cartelli creates beautifully simple, functional porcelain pottery. These unassuming yet elegant pieces are inspired by historical vessel forms, nature and modern design. Based in southern Vermont, Cartelli makes his pots at Brattleboro’s Clayworks, a cooperative clay studio where he also teaches wheel-throwing classes.
Though Cartelli graduated from Guildford College with a degree in political science, the time he spent in the ceramics department there eventually pulled him back to working with clay. After studying at the Penland School of Crafts and being mentored by Malcolm Wright of Turnpike Road Pottery, Cartelli stands firmly in his chosen craft. His work is microwave and dishwasher safe.
