Inlaid-Leaf Pottery from the Berkshires
Based in Monterey, Massachusetts, Ellen Grenadier has been making nature-inspired tableware and custom work for over 30 years. Her technique involves pressing leaves into the wet clay to leave an imprint prior to firing and glazing. Her designs tend to feature peony, ginkgo, willow, maple or fern leaves, as well as pine needles. She works in rich glazes of natural cobalt blues, copper greens and ambers made from iron.
Ellen’s work is a stylish blend of well-crafted, refined form and rich surfaces that are alive with subtle texture and colors. Her pottery ranges in price from $35 for a small bowl to $179 for a large platter. Dishwasher and microwave safe, Ellen’s repertoire includes tea bowls, mugs, platters, vases, dinnerware, teapots, sushi platters and serving bowls.
