Tom Homann

Stoneware Pottery from Vermont

Located in Middlebury, Vermont, Tom Homann creates earthy, organic tableware forms including mugs and bowls, pitchers and vases, pie plates and canister sets. A full-time potter since 1984, Homann’s pieces are typically a combination of throwing, cutting and assembling.  Fired at 2400 degrees, wood ash is the main ingredient in most of his warm, naturalistic glazes.

Homann says, “Collecting, formulating and incorporating materials found near me in nature (wood ash and a little creek mud) is what I find essential in creating the appearance and texture I look for in my pots.”

Homann’s pottery is lead-free and safe for food, dishwasher and microwave use. The pieces are also oven-safe for warming but should be preheated in the oven rather than be exposed to the abrupt temperature change of a hot oven.
