Dwo Wen Chen
Three Wheel Studio
Stoneware CeramicsProvidence, Rhode Island
Dwo Wen Chen uses stoneware and a potter's wheel to create his beautifully formed pieces. His works feature hand painted, multiple layers of intensely colored glazes. A signature of Three Wheel Studio is the contrast between his brightly colored glazes against the natural clay background. Dwo Wen Chen's repertoire includes mugs, tea bowls, teapots, vases, bowls and tray.
According to Dwo Wen Chen, "As a studio potter, I most aspire to recreate the familiar and the useful, taking reference from our immediate environment, expressing and highlighting contemporary urban tastes is a theme in all my creations. At the same time, I want there to be an earthiness to the shape and texture of my work that allows the fondness of the handcrafted to come through. Most importantly, I hope my pottery reflects the love and enthusiasm I feel during its creation."
We are currently featuring numerous pieces from both Dwo Wen Chen's leaf and caterpillar collections. Pieces in the leaf collection include maple, red maple, gingko, wisteria and mixed leaf designs. Each piece is finished with clear, food-safe glaze, and can go in the dishwasher and microwave.
Prices range from $42 for a tea bowl to $272 for the large red maple bowl. Please contact pinch for pricing on a specific piece.
